A large number of people have been displaced due to wildfires in Ávila and Madrid. The municipalities of Talavera de la Reina and Escalona are providing refuge for those affected. The fires have led to the evacuation of 11 municipalities near the Valle del Tiétar, with 5,200 people displaced from their homes.

This is largely due to the intense smoke in the area, rather than the proximity of the flames. Some 2,000 people are currently in Talavera de la Reina, where the local council has set up facilities to accommodate them. Further information on the situation is available from local sources.
